This anthology marks the debut of Long Island's Easy Writers, six talented authors who share Long Island, New York as their home. They met through a creative writing workshop at Suffolk County Community College and together they have assembled 32 of their best short stories for your entertainment. Coming from the worlds of business, law, medicine, security and the military, they have brought an array of experiences and interests to their works.
These stories expertly show us the world through the eyes of characters as diverse as the authors themselves: troubled teenagers coping with lives that are changing too fast, caring families suffering the loss of a loved one, regretful adults working to overcome their mistakes, not to mention a genie, some ghosts and a psychopath or two. Each story is a new journey along a road that covers tragedy and redemption, cruelty and kindness, love and longing. With ample doses of drama, action, horror, mystery, fantasy and even humor, Long Island's Easy Writers' Short Story Collection-2008 has something for every literary taste.

Excerpt - A Friend In Need (Michael S. Brady)
He thought that moving day would never arrive, but now it was surging toward him like an ocean wave, slow and deceptive at first, building it's power below the surface and out of sight, before raging upwards and over him in a fury. But last night Steve's thoughts calmed as he came upon the solution, and now he gripped the revolver in his jacket pocket like a talisman.
Excerpt - Solitude (D. Scott Forman)
My mind fell; it plummeted into literary hunting grounds I once frequented so often. Only now I was enjoying the hunt, the pursuit, the very nectar of a writer's viciousness. I felt like the predator, instead of the prey.
Excerpt - Crystals Secret (Tom Hannon)
"Every picture tells a story, Mark. There is more to this story than a pretty woman standing on the beach." "Care to read me the first chapter, or at least the prologue?" he asked. "The story isn't finished yet, although I'm working on a surprise ending. If my plot turns out the way I expect, I'll need you to write the epilogue." "Sounds like a best-seller," Mark teased. "Will there be a happy ending?" "I wouldn't know. Aren't you the one writing the epilogue?"
Excerpt - As We Forgive Those (Daniel C. McCarthy)
You all have completed this novena and have asked for forgiveness for your sins. Now, I want you to forgive everybody who has ever wronged you, real or imagined; and after you have forgiven all of them don't forget to forgive the guy in your mirror!
Excerpt - Gloria's Tree (Paul E. Morin)
The river path shadowed under rare species of dwarfed evergreens, hemlocks, Douglas firs, spruce, and cypress trees, commanding the landscape like towering chess pieces waiting to march across the board.
Excerpt - Some Sundays Suck (Elizabeth Stevens)
Their mouths moved rapidly in sync with each other, and they continued to behave in ways so exciting that, as he led her to his bedroom, she could feel the rest of the rules shatter around her. If rules were glass, the bottoms of her feet would have been sliced open by then.
