These seven threats bring grave danger to our survival as the wealthiest power on earth -- each gaining rapidly in strength, converging almost unseen. Combined they may bring unrecoverable loss, and an end to life as we have known it. By the end of President Obama's first term, we shall know with abundant clarity whether we can still control our destiny, or have begun a descent into economic blight whence there is no return.

"Thought provoking with its educated and deep insight to the REAL problems facing US -- now and for a LONG TIME TO COME - if we don't start paying attention. It shows what we've been doing and how long we have been going down this 'slippery slope' to oblivion as a Super Power. I could hardly put it down. Can't wait for his next book!" Dwight- HR, CO Small business owner/operator. [Review posted on Barnes and Noble Website 04/02/08]

"Please take this diatribe as a tremendous compliment of your first book," wrote Jon, a Wall Street executive. "Not much of what I hear or read these days stimulates this level of contemplation."

"What a wondrous compilation of the critical issues of our times . . . effective, hard hitting, and challenging." Bernard W., prominent anti-war activist.

'Seven Deadly Threats to America' analyzes seven of the most intractable challenges facing America. It describes the levels on which each threat is so intertwined with the other six, that all must be dealt with together. Most urgently, the solutions available demand immediate action from our leaders. Time is not on our side.

As one imminent example, if the Strait of Hormuz is shut down by Iran - choking off 40% of the world's oil and plunging financial markets into chaos - exactly what actions will the new administration propose, in order to resolve such a crisis?

The book is written as a primer rather than as a scholarly treatise for specialists. Yet it is highly analytical, requiring a careful read, and sets forth specific solutions, including a win/win solution for illegal immigration.

It introduces a set of actions that reverses the recent shift of power to aggressive nations, mitigates the causes of global warming, and strengthens our national security.

ON APRIL 10, 2008, THE COVER STORY OF 'THE ECONOMIST' DEALT WITH THE POTENTIAL LENGTH OF AMERICA'S ECONOMIC DOWNTURN: THE COMMENT BY THIS WRITER WAS THE FIRST POSTED; GARNERING MORE THAN TWICE THE 'RECOMMENDS' OF ANY OTHER POST. IT IS INCLUDED, IN THE SEVEN BRIEF PARAGRAPHS BELOW, AS A SOBER ASSESSMENT OF OUR COLLECTIVE FUTURE IF WE DO NOT TAKE URGENT ACTION AGAINST THREATS THAT NOW GROW IMMINENT.

'THERE IS SERIOUS DOUBT WHETHER AMERICA WILL RECOVER AT ALL, IF BY THAT IS MEANT A RETURN TO LIFE AS WE HAVE KNOWN IT.

'THE AMERICAN MIDDLE CLASS HAS NO MONEY.

'IN THE CURRENT CREDIT CRUNCH, THEY CANNOT BORROW IT IN AMOUNTS SUFFICIENT TO GENERATE A TRUE RECOVERY.

'HOUSING PRICES WILL NOT SOON LEAP BEYOND WHERE THEY WERE BEORE THE RECENT DECLINE, SO THE MIDDLE CLASS CANNOT DEPEND ON HOME EQUITY.

'THE STAGNANT WAGES OF RECENT YEARS WILL NOT SOAR IN A RECESSIONARY/DEFLATIONARY CLIMATE.

'WARS AND RUMORS OF WARS LEAVE NO PERCEIVABLE END TO THE RISE IN ENERGY COSTS, NOR DOES ASIAN DEMAND ALLOW ANY PROSPECT OF LOWER COMMODITY AND FOOD COSTS.

'DRUNK ON DEBT AND SELF-DELUSIONAL WITH $9.99 PRICE POINTS: OBSESSED WITH CELEBRITY AND FOCUSED ON ENTERTAINMENT: AMERICA SHOULD NOT HAVE EXPECTED IT ALL TO END OTHERWISE, LIKE SOME MOVIE FOR WHICH A HAPPY ENDING CAN BE CONTRIVED.'
