When I read Mrs.Zhang using rice-sprout for rice-seedling, I was astonished. Through deeper examination, I found her other side cunning, poor in language and not very amenable to reason. With their anti-communist nature, Mrs. Zhang's two novels, written during her 3- year stay in HongKong, both in Chinese and English, exposed her ideology against the historical trend of China and her incapability of mastering basic knowledge in agriculture and country life.
Sen Du is a retired machine design engineer, wielding the written craft to enrapture the mind much like an artist wields a brush. The pages are a blank canvas on which to draw from a talent heralded by many and matched only by an imagination that rises to the task. A study on Ailing Zhang [93 page in chinese;30-ENG;3-French] is the first in a series of recent pursuits, with work progressing quickly on the follow-up.
