For Alyssa, life is filled with too many hard lessons. After losing her father at an early age, her childhood innocence is shattered. To protect her mother's happiness, she must keep a terrible secret locked deep within. As she enters into her school years, she falls into the social patterns that so many girls fall prey to seeking love and approval from men who are, as yet, only boys. Without real role models to give her direction, she must face not only the pain of the past but her present challenges, alone. But what will she do when all her wrong choices leave her in darkness?

"I kept thinking of the mistakes that I had made and how I have earned every miserable thing that was coming to me. Thoughts of my father flashed before my eyes. I missed my father. He was the only person who never hurt me."

About Stephanie M. Feggins
Stephanie M. Feggins’ writing talent was noticed in high school, when she won third place in a regional poetry contest. It gained her two academic scholarship awards, which then paved the way for her to attend college at Winston-Salem State University. While Stephanie completed her bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications, she served as a staff reporter for the university’s campus newspaper. She has worked as a speechwriter and as a freelance journalist. A Girl Mistreated, her first published drama, was born from a mixture of experience and perception of the young, present-day female reality. “I hope this book will serve as a tool for young women to empower themselves, and will inspire them to continue to strive for success regardless of how bad their current situations may seem.”
