Books by Jason Akley
The dream is plain to see, a candlestick made of gold. But to discover its meaning, a little girl must embark on a remarkable journey. On her quest of self-discovery, she meets two ducks, a mule, a pig, a tiger, a monkey, a possum, and a great speckled bird—all of which challenge her to awaken to oft-hidden truths.

“Hello, little girl! It is true what you say. The dark is a mystery and many get lost in its way. I have come to give you a test. And the candlestick is at the end of your quest. But fear not. For it doesn’t matter if you lose or win. You never have to be scared of the dark again.”

The Candlestick was inspired by the first three chapters of Revelations in the Holy Bible. The seven types of animals represent the seven churches to which Saint Paul wrote epistles, seven types of Christians, and seven dispensations of time. Written in rhyme, both parents and children will enjoy these thoughtful verses as they discover new depths of meaning in the mysteries of Revelations.

“Take heed, little girl! Love is not an obsession. For then that which you love becomes a fragile possession. There is so much beauty in the world! And much that is ugly. It’s easy to worship this world. And do it so smugly. Is the sun our father and the moon our bride? Do the rites of this earth rule us like the changing tides? Perhaps they do. There’s no changing that now. But the first cause of this is the knowledge only the mystery of life allows.”
