Amos Westergaard has penned a fabulous best selling novel and earned stunning international acclaim. Propelled into the easy living world of radio, television, and A-list fund raising appearances, Amos and his cat Zoom quickly become a treasured phenomenon among society's rich and famous. The problem is, Amos is bored out of his skull and is determined to reclaim a meaningful life. Now wealthy beyond his dreams, Amos retreats into isolation while he contemplates his next move. Alone in a mountain wilderness and against all odds, he unexpectly receives two nocturnal visitors. The first is a horrifying stalker that promises only death. The second is a powerful champion carrying a message that just might save him. Initially overwhelmed by this chilling confrontation, Westergaard continues resolutely on while trying to find answers. Piloting his beloved Cessna Skyhawk across America, he'll get help when he needs it most from a collection of unusual characters. There's a pastor hiding a dark secret, a collection of hard core bikers, the gorgeous Grammy winning diva who loves him, and a very different President of the United States.
In the beginning, there was The Book. I had hoped it would be declared at least a good first literary effort. To my absolute amazement, the publishers kept reporting an ever-increasing sales volume. So much so that my creation achieved a very lofty status on best-seller lists across the nation. Retailers had difficulty keeping copies on their shelves. There were discussions of foreign translations and distribution. Studio production bosses wanted a movie deal. There seemed to be no shortage of people willing to shove money down into my pockets.
Fifteen minutes of fame? Hardly! I found myself giving interviews on television and radio for fifteen months! Days sped by quickly as I was professionally shunted from one well-stocked limousine to another. Champagne flowed in continual rivulets at celebrity cocktail parties nearly every night. I attended more worthy "fund raisers" than I dreamed existed. Politicians brazenly sought to have their pictures taken by my side. Captains of industry suggested I might want to address their board of directors, or perhaps cut a deal to endorse their products. Women seemed unusually captivated by my charm and wit. I indulged shamelessly and denied myself nothing.
Of course it had to end.
