Books by David J. Yahiro
He begins life in an economically poor family but one rich in values. He and his family are sent to a WWII evacuation camp during the war. Upon their release, he struggles economically and with his education to regain what he loses during his camp days.

Rather than being drafted, he joins the Army and eventually makes it his career. From Private to Sergeant, Second Lieutenant to Major, he serves in the Field Artillery and as an airplane and helicopter aviator.

...I remember it was a gusty and windy day so we were bouncing around a little. My Landings were okay so he got out and had me go through some landings and takeoffs by myself. It was a wonderful experience flying alone. Sitting in the airplane all by myself I think made me very aware and alert of where I was and what I had to do. It also made me feel satisfied that I could do it alone. After making the required landings, I landed, parked the aircraft and went into the fight briefing room. I put away my parachute and was waiting when the instructor came in with one of the other students. He was really upset...

...At seven months old, I got my first taste of taking care of a baby alone... I would take care of Ryan. As a baby it was mostly the three basic needs that I had to take care...

...Rachel started pre-school...It was very painful to see her cry when I left her there and a very happy moment when she would see me walk into the room to pick her up. She would run up to me and jump into my arms!
