Freedom was just a distant dream until the first seed of hope entered into the mind, breaking free the shackles.

Quietly the door opened and Purdy tiptoed into the room. Everyone turned around at the sound of the squeaking door. Fear gripped them as he entered, they had been discovered. Big Mose saw the fear in their eyes as Purdy walked into the room.

About Sharlene Tate

Sharlene Tate is married, the mother of three, and the grandmother of

four. She felt that writing about the slavery of men and women that

were kept in bondage and servitude, would tell the story of that era

and time. Also of Slaves who managed to overcome and live as free

men. Wielding the written craft to enrapture the mind much like an

artist wields a brush to capture the inhumane conditions they

suffered. The pages are a blank canvas on which to draw from a talent

heralded by many and matched only by an imagination that rises to the

task. Beyond the Shackles of Double Tree is the first in a series of

recent pursuits, with work progressing quickly on the follow-up.
