"The world is changing, Daniel," the staunch, old judge said as he paged through a thick file on his desk. "It's becoming united, more businesslike, even to the point of redefining the value of life." The judge grew quiet and looked down at the young boy standing before him, dirty clothes, messy hair, and minimal recognition of where he was. His face looking at the tiled floor, his feet shuffling slowly. "This is your third visit to my courtroom, Daniel," the judge continued, "and although it's not an official criminal hearing, new world laws require me to relocate all persons considered useless or troublesome. They call it 'purifying the population'."
