Speak, Read and Write in Filipino, Book 1, was developed to help anyone who would like to understand, speak, read and write in Filipino. There are twenty lessons in this book. These will enable non-Tagalog speakers to engage in a conversation at home, store, school, or different locations and occasions This will also help them to understand easy reading books and write a letter, short stories and responses to given directions in Filipino.

The introduction, vocabulary, practice exercises, illustrations and other visuals in each lesson will help anyone to communicate in Filipino in both oral and written forms. Answers to selected exercises and a list of commonly used words are provided at the back of the book.

COMMON EXPRESSIONS

In this lesson, you will learn the following:

There are expressions that are repeatedly used at home, in school, at work, or in the community. You will learn to use and respond to these expressions through interactive stories, dialogues, and other practical situations. Some sample expressions are given below.

Thank you very much – Maraming salamat.
You are welcome – Walang anuman

How are you doing? – Kumusta ka?
Good – Mabuti/Magaling
How are you? – Kumusta ka?
