American girls come rolling off the assembly line with brand status, handling capabilities and a polished exterior included in the sticker price. But Catrin “Cat” Moran is not satisfied to be the rustproof daughter of so-and-so, the customized girlfriend of what’s-his-name, or the all-weather graduate of whatever school. The product of a top-notch education and lesbian upbringing, Cat is in a constant search for a father figure in every classroom, job or friendship that lands on her dent-resistant hood. After too many failed relationships, her polar opposite—a comedian—arrives on the scene and takes her for the test drive of her life. As her tank fills with newfound belief, her life shifts into a higher gear. Though fueled by a combination of self-awareness, love, show business, and a promising future, a blind curve leaves her repossessed. Forced to again reexamine her existence, Cat eases into the slow lane.
Cat knew she could no longer get away with baking the occasional strawberry cake or putting a curl in her hair before the seventh-inning stretch.

This meal-making crap and house-cleaning shit was going to be the deal-breaker in J’s eyes, and since neither was taught to budge, the subject was mute. No matter the price or amount of gifts (gold, silver, diamonds, rubies, etc.) and acceptable companionship he provided on the rare occasions he was in town, she knew the game would be ending without overtime and her team had lost. He wanted—and deserved—the domesticity that accompanied home field advantage.
He wanted to play house.
She wanted convenience with room and board.
Cat desperately had to locate the escape hatch or find a parachute and jump off J’s private jet of urban living that she had grown accustomed to living.
