Writer's Digest says, "The cover illustration is delightful, cute, appealing, and fun...The story begins nicely, and simply...It draws the reader right into the story, as does her asking her mother if she's odd; all children have fears, and all feel "odd" at times, so Ella is instantly understandable, and sympathetic. Also clever is that Ella doesn't entirely get over her fear, even though she understands it better -- and makes a bit different use of it." When Ella is saddened about her fear of mice, her mother shares a story that changes how she sees herself and her fears. Ella Elephant And Her Fear Of Mice is a story for any child experiencing fear or a child feeling alienated from others because of his or her differences. Anyone needing reassurance will be comforted learning that the imperfection or flaws in themselves are in fact perfectly made with a purpose.

"Let me tell you a story I heard when I was your age. This story changed how I see myself. It will also change how you see yourself.”
Long ago, a gardener had one very special clay pot. Each day he filled the clay pot with water.

About P. Janet Lee
Born in Champasack, Laos and raised in America, P. Janet Lee is the youngest of twelve children. At a young age, she embraced life lessons taught through stories told by her father, a long time schoolteacher. Now with two children of her own, she presents the same joy of sharing life lessons through stories. Ella Elephant And Her Fear Of Mice is the first in a series of recent pursuits encouraging children early on to celebrate their individuality and value themselves for who they really are – inside. Illustrator: Tim Clough is a visionary and a talented individual who calls his work “a labor of love”. Using colored pencils, he captivated moving portrayals of motherly love, reassurance and inner joy.
Author's comments:
To everyone who has read this book and shared it with the little ones they love and to my daughter's teacher, the school principal, and all the people who offered me your kind words and encouragements, I am honored, humbled, and greatly appreciative of the love and warmth your words provided.
During family reading months at my daughter’s school, I had the privileged of reading this book to her first grade class. The responses I received from the little ones there were astonishing. Their careful attention and enthusiasm toward the reading and toward Ella surprised even me, nevertheless, reaffirms my goal and purpose for writing this book.
Thank you so much everyone for all your support.
