"Hannah Gerber is a very fine poet. Her work is funny, engaging. She captures something that is typically American. She celebrates everyday occurrences."Billy Collins, June 2006 ‘ECLECTIC, FUNNY, SOMETIMES SERIOUS AND ALWAYS RIGHT ON TARGET’Poetry Train New York Reviews of Perfection Of Small Birds: 'Ms. Gerber is one of the few poets around today who isn't drowning themselves in angst or blood-letting or heavy handed imagery. This poet has been writing in an accessible, amazingly coherant format for years, her work has shown up in literary journals and blogs and at least two other collections of her own. Poetry for real people, her goal of writing 'honestly and mindfully' (as she puts it in 'Mind and Moment, The Poetics Within Us, a guide to writing, published by Lulu Press and Finest Line) is one she has reached again and again, and especially with this collection which focuses on the everyday, nature and parenting.' Nancy Houghan, Oregonian Live
‘Beautiful little poems, full of detail, expressed in captivating ways.’ John Dahl, Poetry Bridge Seattle
‘These delightfully descriptive poems take us closer to our natures and the nature that lies beyond our windows, that eternal element of life.’ Stewart Findlay, Kilmarnock Poets Press
Hannah's poetry is marked by a rejection of the restrictive forms which force meter and rhyme. They are witty and playful, beautifully formed and often more serious than they seem. She has been called ‘A poet of great warmth and humor whose poems are a joy to read, bitter sweet and always insightful’The Paigel Agency represents Ms. Gerber and can be contacted for more information or signed copies at paigelagency@mail2world.com

Flightless
We are still taking inventory of what’s needed to fly. We know this: Faith that the bones in our backs will unfold into wings feathered and strong is going to be required.
Lots of pluck to get us hovering almost motionless like an arctic tern peering at a sea she plans to cross.
A capacity to soar whether here or in our dreams is third on the list so we will know what to expect, if even just a little.
For even if our water-logged wings, our salt-sprinkled wings were stronger or if we were to just lie lazy on worn-out couches staring into dingy mirrored walls, even then if we could just summon the right sort of courage.
Even if every constellation fell into bitter winds and we, children playing around the margins of wasted dreams refused to awake and face our grounded realities, even then we would have each others grip to walk the edge, preparing one another, you and I for our eventual virgin flight.
