We will not add doubles yet because in the next chapter we'll be discussing doubles and how to develop speed. Rudiments, as The New Merriam-Webster Dictionary describes it, are a basic skill -- Something that is not fully developed.

However, for drumming is the starting point. It is something that starts basic but becomes very intense.

There are 25 basic Rudiments on snare drumming and are the first techniques drummers learn to develop. Once you master them you can use them infinitely.
