INSIDE THE BOOK:
That church night I vividly remember the preacher asking the congregation to lift up their hands while standing on their feet and find something to tell God to show Him appreciation. You know, I was on the spot. I followed the crowd, clapped my hands and put my hands in the air. I closed my eyes but I had to think real hard. It seemed as if I thought for 100 years before I could find something to say that would indicate to God I was thankful. I was very sincere though. Then I opened my mouth and began to thank God for the simple things I saw in my life. I began to thank God for another day of life and good health. I began to thank God for the love of my family and for making even slim provisions for my family. Suddenly, something happened to me that literally shocked me and surprised me in an unusual way. All I can say is that God touched me with His touch during this particular praise session I mustered up the nerve to participate in. It was not an emotional experience, but deeper than that. I did not cry and I was not in any pain. If I could describe it, it felt like an invisible friend I could trust had electric fingers tickling away at my stomach. I would try to stand up straight and put my hands up to continue praising God with sincere words, but immediately He would tickle my stomach and cause me to bend over and guard my stomach area. I was astounded by this and inquired into the meaning of the words the preacher was saying. I was changed. I was changed because a God so royally and majestically talked about wanted to play with an insignificant, skinny boy by tickling me. It was as if He was not concerned about contaminating Himself with neither my self-worthlessness nor my impoverished condition. I got the impression that the person with the electric hands was not really concerned about how I looked. This shattered my belief system. I could hardly wait for the next service. Time and time again I would certainly be there early sitting in the same spot eager for the opportunity to have my electric friend play with me. He would still be there when I returned for the next service.......
