There it was out in the open now. 2-200! He could only laugh helplessly. Yes, it was getting very interesting.

For men, love at first sight is basic physics. But taming the male ego also requires chemistry. It’s enduring slavery after that. For women, much gets known to the wise. But, alas, such wisdom also teaches silence.

While they walked to the Hunter’s Lodge, Raemon was pleasantly reassured that Ranie found his jokes rather funny. She was still laughing at his last one as they entered Hunter’s Lodge. Thereupon she abruptly halted, stopped laughing, and, taking a quick look around, hastily grabbed his arm. In a thrilled tone, she exclaimed the obvious: “This is a jungle!”

The walls, partitions, and ceiling displays gave the realistic impression of being out in a forest at dusk.

“Yes,” answered Raemon, looking around admiringly. “It certainly is realistic.”

“Hoot, hoot,” came a cry.

Ranie clutched his arm tighter. “What was that?” she said, looking around wildly.

“It was an owl call.” Noticing her confusion, he added, “It’s a bird on Earth with big eyes and a beak. It flies at nighttime and makes that sound.”

This did not comfort Ranie. “A bird? Does it bite?”

Raemon smiled. “It’s only. . .
