Book Details

Birdie Cadougan has spent most of her young life avoiding her past and remaining unattached to anyone. Her life is uncomplicated and simple. On the occasion of her father's second marriage, however, she is forced to deal with the trauma she has been choosing to forget. Birdie is thrown into the complex entanglements of her new family, the Hesslars, who have their own abandoned, emotional wounds. She attends the festivities out of a sense of duty, but soon becomes swept up in the Hesslar tornado. Everything Birdie has refused to acknowledge hunts her down until the final stand-off, which may jeopardize her father's impending nuptials, as well as her sanity.
