These memoirs are the story of my life. I am an average East Texas boy. But what you read and what you learn from these memoirs is unexplainable, except that my life has been truly Touched by Grace.

Examples of Grace:
Someone sent this to me by e-mail, and I said to myself that these are good examples of grace, and, although I do not know its source or whom to credit, I wanted to share it with the readers of this book.
Picture yourself blindfolded in front of a firing squad. You are guilty and you deserve to die. You await the gunshots. You hear footsteps approaching you, and your heart pounds in your chest. Then you feel the ties being loosened and the blindfold removed.
Jesus stands there. He says “You go on now. I will take care of this for you.” This is grace.
Or perhaps you die and stand in front of St. Peter. He says you will need 100 points to get into Heaven, and he asks what you have done. You tell him you have attended church faithfully and tithed. St. Peter says, “Good, that is worth one point.”
You add that you gave away all of your possessions and fed the poor. St. Peter says, “Wonderful, one point.”
So you say, “I prayed every day and taught my children to pray and go to church.” Again, one point.
You begin to despair, and lament, “There is no way for me to get in there except by the grace of God.”
St. Peter smiles. “97 points, come on in.”
This is Grace.
