A Gift of Hope and Authenticity
This Congruent Life: A Spiritual Ecology Practice is an invitation to realign our lives with our values. This personal and insightful story takes us on a journey toward a more engaged ecology, one that is spiritually informed, generous and encouraging. With wit and practical wisdom, Whitner and Grob let their own lives speak. They show us, in vibrant narrative and photography, how to bring into balance spiritual activism and a commitment to living more lightly on the Earth.
"This is a careful, simple, and quite lovely guide to matching actions to principles - it will be a great help to many of us in its gentle and calm fashion."
~ Bill McKibben, Environmental activist and author
"Thank you for the book, both for giving it and for writing it. This kind of stewardship is crucial in our time and I'm so glad you are part of the effort to push us in a positive direction."
~ The Rt. Rev. G. Porter Taylor
Episcopal Bishop, Diocese of Western North Carolina
Book Excerpt
This Congruent Life is a personal story, not a how-to book. We are one ordinary family learning to make our way differently in the world. We do not have many answers. And the questions keep coming. For now, we share the story with you. Accept it as an unconventional gift from our house to yours. Some parts of our gift you may already have. Some parts may be hard to swallow. Some will fit just right, others simply will not suit. Some parts will feel shiny and new, others more like putting a fresh coat of paint on a forgotten treasure. The package itself is unfinished, rough around the edges, unwrapped and raw. It is a work in progress with no end in sight. We offer the story with the hope that you will keep what works for you, tolerate what does not, add your own experience and resources, and then pass it on.
