| As any successfully published
author will tell you, publishing a book requires promotion.
Be sure to select a publisher that offers an extensive array
of post- publication
support and services, including contest submissions, book
fair representation, and advertising opportunities. These
services should be optional, but available for authors seeking
the next rung on the ladder of publication success.
FRANKFURT
BOOK FAIR
For example, twenty-six Outskirts Press books
were recently represented at the Frankfurt International
Book Fair in Germany from October 10th - 14th. Frankfurt
is the publishing industry's largest event for foreign rights,
acquisitions, and publication. Click on the sample photo from
the event to enlarge. Look for more book fairs to join Frankfurt
and BEA for Outskirts Press authors in 2008.
Outskirts Press now offers additional co-op marketing
opportunities specifically for its Christian, new
age, and spiritual writers. Our religious authors have a happy
home at Outskirts Press with the Diamond and Pearl package's
additional distribution network through Spring
Arbor religious distributorships.
ENLIGHTENMENT THROUGH
PRINT
Enlightenment
Magazine is an award-winning quarterly magazine reaching
over 75,000 inquisitive, progressive readers who are intelligent,
socially conscious, and politically savvy... yet constantly
searching for a higher purpose. Now, Outskirts Press authors
with appropriately-themed titles can promote their books to
this active and inquisitive audience for a fraction of what
it would cost to do so independently. The Marketing COACH
tells you how.
THINKING FORWARD
WITH FOREWORD
The
co-op marketing opportunity through Enlightenment
joins our similar partnership with ForeWord Magazine,
which is a bi-monthly journal that is delivered to librarians,
booksellers, agents, and other industry professionals. Additionally,
ForeWord is sent directly to small press buyers at
the chains (B&N, Borders, Chapters, Books-A-Million, etc).
The Marketing COACH advises all our Diamond, Pearl, and Ruby
authors of these co-op marketing opportunities within the
first month of publication. In fact, the Marketing
COACH advises our top package authors of a wide range
of tactics, tips, and opportunities to help bring success
into the palm of our authors' hands.
BOOK OF THE YEAR
AWARDS
Speaking
of ForeWord Magazine, every year they honor the year's
best independently published books with their Book
of the Year Awards. Authors with 2007-copyrighted
books independently self-published, or published by independent
presses, print-on-demand companies, or self-publishing services
are eligible to enter for the grand prize of $1,500. Of course,
the Outskirts Press Marketing COACH advises our authors on
how Outskirts Press can enter their books to this contest
for their convenience.
BENJAMIN FRANKLIN
AWARDS
Similarly,
the Publisher's Marketing Association brings you the esteemed
Benjamin Franklin Awards, also available for all independently-published
authors to enter on their own. The Marketing COACH advises
all Outskirts Press authors with books published in 2007 how
Outskirts Press can handle the submission details for them.
Due to the popularity of both these contests, the Marketing
COACH's deadline for participation in our submission process
has been extended. The Marketing COACH will notify our authors
via email of the extended deadline for submitting their Outskirts
Press book through us.
