The Novel That Will Change Your Life

On his early morning walk through a sun-washed meadow, born-again Christian Cephas Guzik observes a never-before-seen flock of wild sheep on a familiar hillside. They stand in an unmoving circle around their shepherd, who sits cross-legged in the center. Who is this stranger? Why is he smiling at Cephas? Going over to find out, Cephas is suddenly aware of every historical event from Genesis to the present time. He knows the position and number of all the electrons in the universe. His thoughts are pure, holy, peaceful, perfect. Thereupon he experiences some sort of convulsion, and is face to face with a heavily bearded man in a white woolen robe.

Since being saved two years before, Cephas has prayed that he would have a personal encounter with Jesus Christ on earth, before he died. Has his prayer been answered? Is this shepherd the risen Messiah? This is what Cephas seeks to discover. Travel along with him as he embarks on the most unforgettable adventure of his life—with the most incredible man he would ever meet.

Set in the fictional town of Kidron, in modern-day America, My Friend Jesus is like no book you will ever read. It will forever change the way you look at sin, salvation, God, and Satan—and this dark, fallen world in which we all are forced to live.

Excerpt from Chapter 9: I WILL TRUST AND NOT BE AFRAID

I lay upon my back. The sun shone in my eyes—relentlessly, blindingly. My arms were stretched out impossibly far, my shoulders being strained against their sockets by a Roman soldier on either side of me. The one on my right was husky with a bristly beard. A helmeted man with a Fu Manchu mustache was straddling me, disdainfully looking down. He resembled a corpse, so dark and lifeless were his orbs.

“Where is your God now,” he flouted.

I tilted my head to the left. Jesus lay upon a bulky wooden cross, His arms stretched out like mine. He gazed at me with great sadness. A sea of vacant faces was visible behind Him.

“Right over there,” I motioned with my eyes.

The corpse snorted. “He’s a pretty useless God.”

“What are you waiting for?” a woman cried out. “Crucify him!”

“My friend over there—He could sweep you out of existence, all of you, with a wave of His hand.”

My taunter sneered. “Yo men, did you hear that?” he called while watching me. “Your boy over there could wipe us all out with a wave of His hand!”

“No kidding!”

“Really?”

“Ooh I’m scared!”

“The next time He comes back, He’ll be King of the world!” I said. “And every knee will bow to Him!”

The carcass viciously slapped me. “There’s no king but Caesar! That’s why you’re being crucified: because you preached that your friend is the King of the Jews!”

“He is the King of the Jews!”

“He’s an enemy of the state! And He’ll be done away with like all of Rome’s enemies!”

“He will never die,” I said. “And neither will I, because I believe in Him.”

"Wait till you’re hanging on the cross, in agony, and you can’t breathe,” said the cadaver. “Then tell me you won’t die.”
