Alan's poetry has been described as a pendulum that swings from expressions of love and beauty and humor to dark cynicism about where humanity seems to be headed. Alan’s view is that both the dark and the light illuminate all that life is and can be. This is poetry that speaks to and embraces our humanity. You will find and see yourself reflected in what is written.
Born in 1941 in Queens, New York Alan was raised in Brooklyn and considers himself to be a Brooklyn Boy. During high school he became interested in a variety of literature and art forms including the theatre. He often would cut school on Wednesday to see matinee performances of Broadway shows.
He began writing poetry in 1975 and childrens stories in 1980. He has been influenced by Tom Stoppard, Wiilliam Shakespeare, E.E. Cummings, Dr. Seuss and George Carlin, among others.
Currently and for the past 27 years he has been leading programs internationally for empowering young people, teens and adults to fulfill on those matters that are of interest or importance to them.
Alan is single and live in Laguna Beach, California.
