"I'm leaving the forest!" announced Treena. "I'm going to be a Christmas tree! It's what I want more than anything!"
Treena's animal friends just stared at her. "She's flipped her treetop!" squawked Solo, her Cardinal friend, who had made his home in Treena's branches.
"No, I did not flip my treetop! I've thought about this for a long time. And I've made up my mind. That's why I called you all together. I'm going to need your help."
Treena had always been happy in the forest. During the day she spent her time with her tree family and animal friends. In the evenings, after all the birds were nestled snug in their tree beds, she would often sit quietly listening to stories passed down by the older and wiser trees.
Her favorite stories were the ones about Christmas. Her little pinecones really perked up when they came to the part about Christmas trees.
