The real people of New Orleans who were displaced and and left jobless have never truly returned. Outside of the city there was widespread flooding. The lower delta was the hardest hit yet there was never any news of that devastation. Way out on the end of the delta near Grand Isle a little known event changed the lives of everyone in a little town just south of Golden Meadow.



 
Andrew and his brother Malcolm haphazardly drove pilings into the swamp to build these little cabins on stilts. Andrew couldn't draw a straight line or drive a nail. The cabins looked like children's tree houses. You could tie a boat up there and sleep in one of the little cabins on pilings for only thirty dollars a night. There was a toilet...
