A fictional character by the name of Brandon, is new this fall to his school. His friends have been filling his head with all the wonderful things to see and do at Gene the Pumpkin Man's farm. He has an exciting adventure with his class on this field trip. Most thrilling of all is the fact his new friends accept him for what he is and what he can and cannot do. Brandon is in a wheelchair, but that doesn't dampen his spirits or that of his friends. Brandon heard that "Gene the Pumpkin Man" would actually be talking to them about the farm and pumpkins. He could hardly wait. He was new to Kalamazoo so this was an adventure beyond words.
On the way, the kids were chanting a song:
Gene, Gene the Pumpkin Man,
Has the best pumpkins in the land.
They're all spread out far as you can see,
And I get to pick one just for me!
Brandon kept looking for anything orange. The others were talking about everything at the farm was orange, the buildings, flowers, and a huge pumpkin playhouse.
There was a whoop! "There it is! There it is!" shouted the children.
